One needs to solve the puzzle of hitting very large intervals in a musical way. Whether breaking or rolling arpeggios, at what moment exactly one attacks right hand melody within it, when and how doing the pedalling. It is an aesthetical question much more than technique. Small hand is just a myth. Several great pianists had very small hands: Godowsky, Scriabin, Pires, Biret. In fact, large hands are uncomfortable to fit into the keyboard: it is usually a downside.

Pianists from early 20th century did not hit left and right hand together at all, even in comfortable passages. We need to think bigger than what we are accostumed to, because there are many more musical possibilities than we think.
