Despite its great effect, this is one of the easiest pieces in standard repertory. In Czerny's words: "one of Beethoven's most impassioned sonata, not too difficult to learn". It is based in arpeggios, scales and cadenza chords, so practice a lot of them in C#m and G#m, maybe F#m in order to master them in fast tempo here. Don't use this piece as a show off. A great musician will display rhetoric abilities to convince its structure. It is an ALLEGRO DE SONATA which was unexpectedly displaced in the LAST MOVEMENT of a sonata, not the usual first one. Appropriate color/character is more important than speed alone, so don't rush when it gets easy or slow down when it gets tougher. Use tempo flexibility in order to convey passages/themes of tension or relaxation instead, so that you produce a musical expressive result that may solve endurance technical problems too. And don't forget about articulations: second theme is often underplayed regarding this requirement.
